  • Who can use MEDLIVE SOUTH?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH currently serves Alabama residents of all ages over 6 months old. If you are an Alabama resident, or just passing through, it would be our pleasure to care for you.
  • What is the cost?
    From 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M, each visit is just $39.00. After 8:00 P.M. the price per visit increases to $59.00.
  • Can my family use MEDLIVE SOUTH?
    Children ages 6 months to 18 years old can be added to your account, and be evaluated by one of our providers. Individuals under the age of 18 cannot have an account of their own. Permission of the parent or guardian is required for the treatment of minors.
  • When can I see a provider?
    The MEDLIVE SOUTH providers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including all major holidays. A provider will be available to see you within 15 minutes after requesting an appointment.
  • What medical problems CAN MEDLIVE SOUTH treat?
    Medical problems that CAN be treated are as follows: Allergies, Colds, Constipation, Depression, Diarrhea, Flu, Fever, Gout, Insect Bites, Pink Eye, Poison Oak, Respiratory Infections, Sinus Infection, Skin Infections and Rashes, Sore Throat, and Vomiting
  • What medical problems CANNOT be treated by MEDLIVE SOUTH?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH cannot treat emergency medical conditions. Problems that are not appropriate for our providers include chest pain, shortness of breath, facial weakness, abdominal pain beyond cramps, and uncontrolled bleeding. If you are concerned that you may have a serious or life threatening condition, please call 911 or go directly to the emergency department. MEDLIVE SOUTH does not treat chronic pain conditions.
  • Can MEDLIVE SOUTH call in a prescription?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH can send electronic prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice as long as that pharmacy participates in the e-prescribe program. Most pharmacies currently accept electronic prescriptions. However, MEDLIVE SOUTH does not guarantee a medication will be prescribed during a visit, and all prescribing is at the discretion of the provider.
  • Can I get a routine medication refilled?
    The providers can refill certain routine medications including: blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, and birth control type medications. However, the prescription will be short term and only prescribed if your current primary care provider is unavailable.
  • Can MEDLIVE SOUTH provider prescribe all medications?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH providers do NOT prescribe any controlled pain medications, anti-anxiety medications, controlled muscle relaxers, or sleep medications.
  • What if I need further care that cannot be provided online?
    If MEDLIVE SOUTH provider decides that further care is required beyond what can be provided online, we can help you identify the most appropriate location and time frame for your follow up. This could simply mean that you need to follow up with your primary care doctor on the next business day, or it could be recommended you seek care at an urgent care facility for same day care. It is rare, but possible, that your provider may recommend you seek emergent care at the closest emergency department if your condition is considered critical. Your provider can help you locate the closest, most appropriate facility, and the best way for you to receive further care.
  • Can I make an appointment to be seen?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH does not offer scheduled appointments.
  • Can I send information gathered at my visit to my regular doctor?
    You will be provided with a visit summary after the completion of your visit.
  • Can MEDLIVE SOUTH become my primary care physician?
    No. All providers at MEDLIVE SOUTH believe in the importance of having an established primary care provider. MEDLIVE SOUTH providers are available to you for urgent care needs only.
  • How long will my visit be?
    There is no time limit on your evaluation. A visit with a provider typically lasts approximately 10-15 minutes when only one illness is discussed. If you have multiple issues to discuss you may be asked to follow up with another visit.
  • What information should I have available for my appointment?
    A current list of all medications and drug allergies is requested. If you feel like you might have a fever, a current temperature would also be useful. If the patient being evaluated is less than 16 years old, we also request an up-to-date weight.
  • Do I need any special equipment to use the virtual visit app?
    You do need a few basics: a computer or compatible mobile device (tablet or smart-phone), a web-cam, and a microphone. If your computer or mobile device already has an integrated camera and microphone, you shouldn’t need any extra equipment to get started.
  • How do I pay for my visit?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH currently accepts all major credit cards and debit cards.
  • Can MEDLIVE SOUTH bill my insurance?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH does not offer billing for insurers.
  • Can I pay for my visit with an FSA, HRA, or HSA? "
    Our services may be covered by an FSA, HRA, or HSA account. Contact the account services for more information.
  • How is my personal and medical information protected?
    MEDLIVE SOUTH is compliant with all federal HIPAA and COPPA regulations. A copy of our privacy policy is made available to you when you create an account.
  • Can my evaluation occur via telephone only?
    Telephone consultations are available, however, MEDLIVE SOUTH providers prefer to perform your evaluation using the video conference capability within our secure online system. This allows for a more thorough evaluation of the patient and their symptoms. Children under the age of 10 must be evaluated via video conference.
  • What happens if I have a problem after my visit ends?
